A case i will never forget
While at a Health Center IV, a distressed mother urgently arrived with a very weak 3-year-old son; a diagnosis of severe malarial anemia was made but unfortunately, the facility’s blood refrigerator was empty. We reached out to the regional blood bank about 38 km away and they advised us to arrange transportation for collecting blood for the patient. Despite all our efforts, we got the worst clinical outcome.

What is the Blood Alarm System?
It’s a low cost and resilient digital platform aimed at eliminating delays in blood transfusions due to frequent but avoidable blood stockouts in health facilities through providing real time data about hospital blood inventories, automatically sending notifications about impending blood stockouts in these facilities and supporting appropriate hence efficient blood use.
