Blood Alarm System

A digital platform(web and native mobile app) that minimizes avoidable delays in blood transfusions in health facilities resulting from using unreliable methods of monitoring blood stock levels and inappropriate use of blood by health workers in health facilities.

Milestone

Piloted in Mukono General Hospital and Kisenyi Health Center IV in Uganda. Over 400 transfusions completed via the system, increased the traceability of blood products from 44% to 72%, the compliance to blood transfusion guidelines increased from 68% to 72%, improved availability of critical blood products for emergencies and had an average satisfaction rating of 3.9/5 which is great for a digital health platform.

Next step/Status

Refinement and integration with EHRs and electronic blood bank management system in the country.

Safe Mama App

A native mobile app aimed at bringing the latest maternal and newborn care guidelines, well curated skills videos and pre-recorded webinars to rontline health workers other than relying on the traditional and costly printed guidelines.

Milestone

Launched at the 4th safe motherhood conference at speke resort Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda.

Next step/Status

Handed over the project to National Safe Motherhood Expert Committee (NASMEC).
